Rover P5 B 3500 V8 rally car, year 1968. Colour white with a black rally interior. This car was especially build for the ultra-demanding 1993 London to Sydney endurance rally. The car is a 1968 Rover P5B Mark 3, fitted with the Rover 3.5 litre V8 engine and a rugged 5-speed manual gearbox. The automobile is fitted with a full CRMO roll cage and protected engine compartment, 120 Litre fuel tank, Koni shock dampers, heavy duty spring leaves, large AP295 brakes, A Quaife limited-slip differential, and a special wiring loom. In the purposeful rally interior you will find comfortable Recaro seats, 4-point safety harnesses, additional roof ventilation flaps for the driver and co-driver, a vinyl sliding sunroof, a Rally Tripmaster, Compass, a hydraulic handbrake and many more rally accessories. All the fuel lines, wiring and brake lines are mounted through the interior. For extra safety the chassis was reinforced. Altena Classic Service sold the car to the current owner in 2010, ever since the car was serviced and brought up to date (before and after every rally event) by Altena Classic (Rally) Service. The car is in good condition with obvious signs of use. Mechanically it has proven to be an exceptionally reliable and powerful companion! Over the decades the car has participated in the following historic rally and endurance events: 1993 London – Sydney Trail, 1996 The London – Cape Town, 1998 The Inca Trail (South America), 2003 The Winter Trail (Europe / Balkans), 2010 Copa Cabana Trial (South America), 2014 Winter Trial, and many day / weekend rallies in the Netherlands / Germany and Belgium.
