Alvis was founded by Thomas George John and G.P. de Freville. The first cars built under the Alvis name were manufactured in 1920, and the last Alvis (sports) cars came out of the factory in Coventry 47 years later. The ending of the brand name Alvis was sealed when it was incorporated into the British Leyland concern, where it became part of Rover.
The Alvis cars were of great quality and workmanship and were very fast as well. As for their cars, many parts were designed and manufactured by Alvis’ own staff, and production was small-scaled and exclusive.
In the 1920s, Alvis was the first British car model to experiment with four-wheel drive. In fact, in 1925, they even manufactured sports and racing cars equipped with front-wheel drive, which had also been fitted with an overhead camshaft.

The shown Alvis Speed 25 is one of the great English pre-war supercars equipped with a smooth 6 cylinder engine with an output of 106 hp and a top speed of 106 Mph. The fully synchronized gearbox is a joy to operate and independent front suspension and pneumatic brakes booster give the car a good road handling and braking. In total there were only 389 Speed 25’s built of which only 110 exist worldwide. This type with Cross & Ellis body was built only 39 of which are 19 left!
The car is very original and has matching numbers. The Speed 25 is just completely and professionally restored. All documentation of the restoration comes with the car. The engine is overhauled with new valves, pistons, bearings, etc. The ash frame was were necessary repaired, and the aluminum body panels are in perfect condition.
All the original features have been retained and the Alvis runs, brakes absolutely fantastic. The car has a Dutch license plate and the original English is also provided.
