Lagonda LG45 ‘Rapide’ four-seater Tourer, year 1937. Chassis number 12178, engine number M45/160, steering box number 6087/47. Colour grey metallic combined with a dark red leather interior and a black mohair hood and tonneau cover. The Lagonda LG45 is a very rare automobile, only 278 examples were built in the years 1936 – 1937. The engine shows the directly bolted on S.U. carburettors of the last ‘sanction three’ model with integrated cross flow manifold cast into the cylinder head. The car was sold new featuring a saloon ‘De Ville’ bodywork. In 1994 the chassis was fitted with the current spectacular ‘Rapide’ four-seater Tourer body which was hand built by the renowned British body work artist Rod Jolley. Mechanically and technically, the car was fully and beautifully restored and overhauled by LMB in Belgium. The original gearbox (with only a synchromesh on 2nd gear) was replaced by a fully synchronized Alvis gearbox. A pricy and complex modification which has greatly improved the ease of operation and the driving experience. This Lagonda LG45 ‘Rapide’ is in a superb condition throughout, and the car drives and handles delightfully. The ’Rapide’ four-seater Tourer body style is very special, this Lagonda is a true head turner. The automobile shows fantastic details complementing the extravagant style. This Lagonda was cherished by its owner and serviced by professionals. This exclusive vintage automobile can be exported to and registered in any country globally. A glorious Lagonda LG 45 in superb condition!
