After the first very successful Beach To Bridge in 2015, plans have formed for the 2016 edition. Starting in Normandy again, but a little more to the South East in Cherbourg, we found a great new route along the Atlantic wall defenses.
New to the second edition is a special class we added for people who would rather enjoy this adventure in their modern car. This event will be run in 3 classes, prewar, classic and open tourers. This cultural and historic rally is open to all who enter with a classic or convertible car.
We have created a tour for you following the road to the liberation of Europe and we will visit a number of highlights on this route. From the start at Utah Beach, the most southern of all 5 landing beaches, we follow the coastline to the Pillboxes at Arromanches, where we can still see the German canons to relive the landings here in a 360 degrees movie. Following the landing beaches to the North we will see why our freedom fighters have chosen exactly these 5 locations. The French coast will get rougher with steeper cliffs as we progress to the North. Following the Atlantic Wall even further to Le Touquet Paris Plage. Passing through the area where most V1 and V2 rockets were launched form we will take time to see the La Coupole Museum. Crossing into Belgium we will start heading East past Brussels and into the Belgian Ardennes and Luxemburg to finish the event at Chateau Neercanne.
It is not all and only War in our event. We will also take very good care of you. How about a calvados tasting? Wondered where Dom Benedictine comes from? We will show you. The home of the Renault Alpine in Dieppe and many more highlights which we will keep secret for now.
Lets’s never forget
During this event will try to challenge your map reading ability on several regularity sections and map reading sections and show you how the navigation worked in the past. One of these methods was invented for the pilots and the resistance to find their way in the after being dropped or shot down behind enemy lines.
There will be 3 classes in which you will be able to enter:
- Vintage: till 1945
- Classic: 1946 ill 1975
- Open tourers: 1975 till 2016
The finish of the event will be at Chateau Neercanne with an afternoon program. Should you wish to stay the night booking is possible through us. There will be live music by Sergeant Wilsons Army Show and friends and family will all wave you in when you pass the finish arch. The prize giving dinner will be in the historical restaurant of this old convent.
Since this undertaking is done with mostly classic cars, there is always something that go wrong with your precious classic car. A spezialised crew will follow us all to make sure that we do not leave anyone behind.
As usual we will take you to “the best available” hotels on route that will take a group of our size. All hotels, dinners and lunches are incorporated in your entry fee so the only extra cost you will have is the cost for fuel for both yourselves and the car. The entree fee is € 3.950,00 based on a double room. There is space for a maximum of 45 entrees. Single rooms can be booked upon request at an extra charge.
